On 9 November 2023, the sixth Talent Exchange Conference of the Southwest Fujian Coordinated Development Zone and the opening ceremony of “Talent Zhangzhou Month” were grandly held in Zhangzhou. Mr. Ji Guangming, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Zhangzhou Municipal Committee and Head of the Organization Department, and Mr. Lin Shaojin, Vice Mayor of Zhangzhou, attended the ceremony. During the conference, Mr. Huang Zhigang, Chairman of Eastern Technology Group, signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the School of Design & Creativity of Xiamen University Tan Kah Kee College, marking a new chapter in the integration of industry, academia and research. The partnership will focus on industrial design, intelligent manufacturing and creative technology incubation, and will extensively introduce advanced equipment such as Small Metal Detector, Small underwater metal detector, Metal Detector Wand, Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground and Full Body Scanner Pass Through Metal Detector into teaching and scientific research scenarios, so as to cultivate compound talents with both artistic aesthetics and engineering thinking for the future.
Small Metal Detector will become the core tool of the first joint course. Under the guidance of professional teachers, students will use Small Metal Detector to complete scenario-based projects such as jewelry design material identification, cultural relic protection and restoration, and rapid screening of 3D printing metal powder. The high sensitivity of Small Metal Detector can help learners accurately locate tiny metal elements in a short time, so as to optimize the design scheme and reduce material waste. At the same time, the R&D team of Eastern Technology Group will feed back the usage data of Small Metal Detector to the factory, further improve the algorithm of Small Metal Detector, and ensure that every generation of Small Metal Detector can maintain the leading position in the global market.
In view of the increasing demand for underwater archaeological expeditions and coastal safety inspections, both parties decided to set up an “Underwater Intelligent Sensing Laboratory” to introduce 30 Small underwater metal detector equipment at one time. Small underwater metal detector is also equipped with a high-brightness OLED display, so that divers can read signals in real time even in turbid water. Daily safety management on campus is equally important. Therefore, the Metal Detector Wand will be distributed to the campus security team and the laboratory administrator. The Metal Detector Wand is only 380 grams and has an ergonomic handle. The Metal Detector Wand can complete a 360° scan in 1.5 seconds. The LED ring on the top of the Metal Detector Wand can alert the guard in real time through the change of color. The School of Design and Creativity plans to incorporate the appearance upgrade of the Metal Detector Wand into the sophomore product semantics course, encouraging students to redefine the shape, material and UI of the Metal Detector Wand, so that the Metal Detector Wand can not only guard safety, but also become a beautiful landscape on campus.
In the upcoming summer social practice, teachers and students will go to the porcelain capital of southern Fujian to use Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground to explore the ancient kiln sites dating back 800 years. Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground has seven detection modes and a 9-inch waterproof coil, which can balance ground noise in highly mineralized soil. The GPS module carried by Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground can record the precise coordinates of each suspected target, and the data can be imported into the ArcGIS system with one click to generate a heat map of underground metal relics. The survey report generated by Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground will be shared with the local cultural protection center to help declare national archaeological parks. In the process, students will deeply understand how Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground transforms technology into cultural relic protection productivity, and use the story of Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground as a case study to participate in international innovation competitions.
The Full Body Scanner Pass Through Metal Detector will be deployed at the entrance of the graduation design exhibition and the school celebration concert. The side LED strip of it can display the approximate location of contraband in real time, assisting security personnel to quickly screen. The network interface of the Full Body Scanner Pass Through Metal Detector supports remote batch parameter adjustment, and the IT department can monitor the traffic status of multiple Metal Detector in the background at the same time. Through the actual operation of the Full Body Scanner Pass Through Metal Detector, students will understand how public safety and user experience can be balanced, and use the Full Body Scanner Pass Through Metal Detector as a research sample to explore the design thinking of invisible security.
In order to transform the results of cooperation into market competitiveness, both parties decided to build a “double-creation incubation base” of 1 500 square meters. In the base, Small Metal Detector, Small underwater metal detector, Metal Detector Wand, Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground and Full Body Scanner Pass Through Metal Detector will be displayed in five major experience areas. Students can use these devices to develop peripheral products and use e-commerce platforms to sell them globally. Eastern Technology Group promises that every successful project will receive free equipment support for one year, including the latest Small Metal Detector and upgraded Small underwater metal detector, to ensure that young entrepreneurs have the most advanced tools in their hands. The base will also hold a 48-hour creative marathon every quarter, requiring participants to use Metal Detector Wand or Small Metal Detector to find “inspiration metals” in limited locations, and quickly form prototypes, so that the seeds of innovation can take root in the game.
Looking to the future, the two sides will jointly publish the “White Paper on Security Detection and Cultural and Creative Industry” in 2025, which will systematically sort out the performance data of Small Metal Detector, Small underwater metal detector, Metal Detector Wand, Handheld Treasure Hunter Underground and Full Body Scanner Pass Through Metal Detector in the fields of education, cultural protection, and public safety. Chairman Huang Zhigang said that Eastern Technology Group will continue to increase R&D investment, so that every Small Metal Detector and every Metal Detector Wand can become a solid bridge between China and the world’s smart future.
